Why This Support Matters?

Domestic abuse is not always physical. It can include coercive control, emotional abuse, threats, isolation, sexual abuse, economic abuse, immigration-related threats and psychological pressure.

For migrant women, abuse is often reinforced through threats such as: “I will cancel your visa”, “You will lose the children”, “No one will believe you”, or “You have nowhere to go”. FreeBirds UK exists to challenge this isolation and make sure women know that help is available.

Legal Issues

We provide free, confidential assistance to women in the UK and European countries who are experiencing domestic abuse and seeking a safe way out of abusive relationships. We will help you gather all the necessary documents and apply to court for protective orders and injunctions — one of the most effective ways to obtain legal protection quickly.

What Legal Protection Can You Get?

  • Injunction against contact and harassment (in the UK — Non-Molestation Order): Prohibits the abuser from any contact (calls, messages, stalking) with you and your children. In the UK and several European countries, breaching this order is a criminal offense, leading to an immediate arrest.

  • Occupation Order — in the UK. Prohibits the abuser from entering shared home (even if they own it or are the primary tenant), allowing you and your children to remain there safely.

How We Help

  • Evidence gathering and urgent filing: We help collect messages, photos, or reports for the court. In emergencies, applications can be filed without notifying the abuser and are reviewed within a matter of days or even hours.

  • Liaising with police and social services: We explain how to obtain immediate emergency protection on-site and how to effectively navigate communication with child protection services.

  • Free legal assistance (Legal Aid): We help access your eligibility for Legal Aid solicitor and explain the support available to survivors of domestic abuse in UK and Europe.

Strictly confidential and step-by-step. We will help you navigate the local legal system to ensure you are safe.

Child Protection and Parental Rights

If you have children together, we will help protect them from manipulation, pressure, and further abuse, and we will support you through the family court process:

  • Determining Living and Contact Arrangements (in the UK — Child Arrangements Order): We will help you secure an official court order detailing who the children will live with and how (as well as whether it is safe for them) they will have contact with the other parent.

  • Safety as a Priority: If there has been abuse by the partner, courts are legally required to consider these risks. We will help you gather evidence (police reports, protective orders) to ensure that any contact with the children is strictly limited, supervised by specialists, or prohibited entirely.

Social Benefits and Financial Support
We will help you navigate the welfare system, even if your visa originally restricted your access to public funds (for example, under the NRPF condition in the UK):

  • Emergency Assistance: For victims of domestic abuse in the UK and European countries, there are special temporary programs that grant access to benefits, crisis housing, and financial support.

  • Guidance: We will direct you on where to apply, what documents to provide, and how to expedite the payment process.

Immigration Status Support
You do not need to stay in an unsafe relationship just to retain your legal documents. The law protects you independently of your partner.

  • Special Visa Route (in the UK — DVILR): The legislation in the UK and many European countries allows victims of domestic abuse to obtain independent legal status, renew their residence permits, or apply directly for permanent residency (Indefinite Leave to Remain / PR).

  • Legal Processing: We will explain the current requirements of the immigration authorities, help you compile a body of evidence documenting the abuse, and guide you through submitting the application correctly for a legal and safe stay in the country.

You and your children have the right to safety. We will help you navigate every legal and bureaucratic step of the way.

Shelter

If staying at home is dangerous, we will help you and your children find a safe refuge (shelter).

  • Complete Safety: The address of the shelter is strictly confidential, and the premises are fully secured.

  • A New Start: You will receive temporary accommodation and the time you need to safely decide on your next steps.

Psychological Support

Domestic abuse leaves deep, invisible wounds: guilt, anxiety, fear, and symptoms of PTSD. You do not have to go through this alone. Our qualified psychologists and trauma specialists will help you:

  • Process the Experience: We will listen to you without judgment and help you navigate heavy emotions in a safe, healthy way.

  • Regain Your Footing: We will work with you on self-esteem and anxiety, helping you work through feelings of guilt.

  • Find Inner Strength: We will provide practical psychological tools and techniques to help you regain control over your life and start looking to the future without fear.

All consultations are completely free, strictly confidential, and available in a format that is convenient for you. You deserve support, care, and safety.
